Planktonic chlorophyceans of a Brazilian subtropical river: taxonomy and ecological aspects

Abstract Given the extreme importance of understanding biodiversity in contemporary context, this study performed a taxonomic survey planktonic green algae from subtropical river Paraná state, broadening knowledge group’s geographic distribution and environmental conditions related to its occurrence. Monthly samplings phytoplanktonic material were carried out February 2015 January 2016, resulting identification 26 taxa belonging classes Chlorophyceae Trebouxiophyceae, distributed among 16 genera six families. Among identified, seven are new citations for Paraná.
